Made from Northern White Cedar logs, which naturally produces preservatives that help resist decay and insects. Each board is dried and inspected for defects before processing. The boards are sanded to be smooth and free of splinters. Tables may be finished with any outdoor wood preservative, or left unfinished to weather to a silvery grey.  Many, or most of the logs will have cracks. These cracks are called checks. Checking occurs when the logs dry and the cells shrink causing the wood to split. This does not weaken the wood. Checking helps give cedar furniture its rustic beauty.
